Two novella chapters for your consideration

Back in February, I made a pact with you all: I’d write and publish two chapters of a novella by end of June, or I owe you each $100.
And you reminded me. Taunted me, even.
It’s 9:40 ET on June 30 as I write this. I can see fireworks all the way down in Staten Island. The Consolations of Philosophy by Max Richter is playing, which feels fitting. And most importantly, I’m proud to say, I wrote two chapters.
And I think they’re not half bad!
I’ll write another post about my experience with writing fiction so far, but I’ve looked at a screen for far too long today. I’m going to hang things on my wall and crack open a book.
